2026-2027 TRYOUT INFORMATION
DATES AND TIMES
When:
May 2 & 3, 2026
Location:
North Gym inside of the Paul McDermott Physical Education Complex (On UNLV Campus)
Tentative Schedule of Events:
Saturday - Check In: 8:15am • Start Time: 9am • End Time 4pm
Sunday - Check In: 8:15am • Start Time: 9am • End Time 1pm
• Team Meeting at End of Tryouts
Price:
$25 cash at the door
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
TUMBLING:
•Standing Tuck (REQUIRED TO MAKE TEAM)
•Standing Back handspring(s) to Tuck
•Straight or Specialty Running Pass to Tuck
*Layouts and Fulls Highly Encouraged!
ALL GIRL STUNTING:
•Knowledge & Execution of at least one Spinning Skill - Full Up, Low to High Full Around, High to High Full Around
•Knowledge & Execution of at least one Flipping Skill - BHS Up, Roundoff Up, Rewind, Hand-to-Hand, etc. to Extended Position
•ALL FLYERS MUST DOUBLE DOWN
WHAT TO WEAR
FEMALES:
Black sports bra & black spandex
Clean white cheer shoes
Hair up with a bow
Game day makeup with Red Lips
MALES:
Black shirt & black shorts
Clean white cheer shoes
TRYOUT MATERIAL
Fight song (see video)
*Please learn ahead of time
Running tumbling
Standing tumbling
Chant (will learn day of tryout)
Stunting (Last day of tryouts)
DAY 1:
Tumbling, Fight Song, and Chant tryout
1-on-1 Interview session
First cuts and stunting practice
DAY 2:
Tumbling, Fight Song, Chant, and Stunting tryout
Final cuts and team announcement
DOCUMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Liability Waiver (below) *in-person tryouts only*
- Tryout Application (below) must be emailed to unlvcheerleaders@gmail.com
- Acceptance letter for UNLV or Proof of Application Submission
- 2 unopened/sealed letters of recommendation
VIDEO TRYOUTS
FINAL DEADLINE: THURSDAY APRIL 30TH, 2026 BY NOON (12PM PST)
All of the above information/material is required for video tryouts. All videos must be recorded on a Timestamp app to ensure accurate skills. Video tryouts, tryout application, UNLV acceptance letter, and 2 letters of recommendation must be emailed to: unlvcheerleaders@gmail.com
